I do it because it’s FUN, that’s why!

I woke up this morning on a mission. At 7:00AM, I had my weekly "power call" with my MasterMind group, 8:45AM my weekly "marriage moment" with my hubby and a series of other "to-dos" crowded my calendar. For some reason, though, I AM so excited! Don't get me wrong, my day is jammed packed. One glance at my Blackberry and I wonder "did I schedule time to eat today?" Amidst all the appointments and plans there lies within me an overriding ... Read more

You are who you SAY you are!

It snowed last week here in Georgia. For many, this was exciting. For us it was…bittersweet. My daughter was scheduled to play her first basketball playoff game. Due to the weather, their game was cancelled. Not only was her first playoff game canceled, but so was her season. The league decided to only allow the top two teams to play for the championship. Jasmine had just written and recorded her I AM statements a couple of nights before we received this disheartening ... Read more

You are not alone

Have you ever set your mind to do something? Whatever the task, once completed, would bring you a great sense of accomplishment? I do it all the time. I am a habitual goal setter. “This week I will teach my girls how to be business owners, attract greatness into my life, write a bestselling book…etc”. Right now, today even, I am working on a few projects that will enhance my personal and professional life. Ideas so grand that upon completion they ... Read more

A-A-A – Don’t leave home without it!

Oh how time flies! It seems like yesterday I was taking my daughter, Jasmine, to school when I was faced with what could have been a major catastrophe. At the time, I was 7 months pregnant with my youngest daughter Jada when all of a sudden the car made a horrific sound and started to shake. "Please, Lord, not right now,” I mumbled. It was too late, I just had a blow out. With a huge sigh, I looked for the ... Read more

A Ministry Lesson from the 4th Fireworks Celebration

I spent my Independence Day in my hometown of Savannah, GA with my extended family. Wow, it really was amazing. While I had spent time with these same people I had known all my life, something seemed apparent that this gathering was different from all those previous. This year as we gathered together for the purpose of having fun and visiting with one another, we were all decked out in our matching family reunion style t-shirts. Was that some of ... Read more

Are you a Champion?

"No surrender, no retreat we take the battlefield over EVERY time!" Wow. What a statement! Taken from the Los Angeles Lakers' Ron Artest's new single, "Champion", which he made sure he 'shouted-out' during his post game interview, this is a mantra that I am definitely adopting. Today marks the first day of summer and what I see as a season for champions. Summer, the end the NBA season, the peak of the World Cup, the time of year where ... Read more

Soar don’t settle

I hope you got a chance to enjoy some BBQ, baked beans, just plain, good ole fashion grillin' as my uncle would say. Memorial Day, traditionally, marks the beginning of a season of family fun in the sun: beaches, vacations, time with family and friends. While for many this time of year commences an influx of road trips, summer camps, and much needed family get-a-ways, for most churches it often represents a season of stark decline. Decreased attendance, sporadic ... Read more

A Life of Sacrifice

Happy Memorial Day! It takes a brave man or woman to sacrifice their life for that of someone else. Even if it is someone you know, love, and trust. OK, be honest, would you without hesitation, willingly throw yourself in front of a moving train for your old nagging auntie? What about your cousin who always wants to borrow $20? Now imagine, giving up your life for a complete stranger? Or someone that openly disrespects you, ... Read more
